Applicants with a disability

One of the strongest motivations behind setting up internshipHelp was the fact that we felt nobody should be unable to apply for or to get an internship because of a lack of information or opportunity. We take our commitment to widening opportunity among those with a physical or mental disability just as seriously as our commitment to diversity. So much so, we have integrated a screen reader into our website to allow visually impaired applicants to listen to the information and advice on this website from any web browser from any computer. Click here to start the the internshipHelp screen reader.

We recognise that there is no reason why someone with a disability cannot be a success in the best graduate jobs. However, we also know that these jobs can feel like a closed shop to the disabled, and nothing is more secretive, off putting and mystified than the myriad process of winning an internship.

It doesn’t have to be like this. We believe that employers are working hard to widen access to those with disabilities. We understand that some elements of internship application procedures, such as timed online tests or assessment centres hold great practical difficulties (if not impossibilities) for those with a disability. That’s why we offer our top 10 tips section, and the useful links section in order to give the move to offer equality of opportunity of disabled students in internships the full support it deserves.

That’s the internshipHelp commitment: helping every student to get the top internships. If you are a disabled student and feel a company is not making the necessary efforts or offering the necessary assistance for applicants who have a disability, please let us know at contact@internshipHelp.co.uk and we will do our utmost to help you.

Remember, a disability is no reason not to get a top internship.
