We were motivated to found this organisation because the current assistance for students looking for internships is inadequate. Graduate recruitment sites add internships as an aside, much more interested in the lucrative graduate and experienced hire market. Company websites can sometimes be difficult to navigate and can not always provide a neutral viewpoint. What is needed is a website which offers everything you need in one place. Hopefully, you agree that in internshipHelp that is what we now have.
There were, however, things motivating us that went beyond the disparate quality of internship advice currently available. These principles were what really motivated us to found this site, and they are as follows:
- Internships should be open to all, regardless of connections: That’s why our content is totally free and offers inside information. This should give everyone the advantage currently enjoyed by those with inside connections.
- That diversity is to be encouraged: We are committed to diversity and will always promote diversity initiatives and events. We are looking to break down the barriers which exist, be they in reality or of perception, for people from racial and social backgrounds who win a smaller share of internships.
- That those with a disability need their problems recognised: Lumping disability under the diversity heading ignores the fact these individuals face very different problems and challenges. That is why we have Top 10 Tips on applying with a disability and a useful links for applicants with a disability page - to demonstrate our commitment to help this group running through the site.
- That employers need to be connected to the best graduates: Economic growth needs a flexible and skilled labour market which offers employers a choice of a wide range of talented individuals with which to fill each role. That’s why we aim to encourage students to apply for internships and contact employers. We are also always looking to keep employers informed and build great relationships with them.
- Getting the right job is key to happiness: The right career is a vital part of being happy and fulfilled. Ensuring more people get this right, by giving them encouragement and information, is a highly worthy end in and of itself.
So, that’s why we want to help. This site is our contribution to building a stronger economy and society, through giving students of all backgrounds and abilities fantastic opportunities. We hope it helps you land a top internship and go on to a happy and fulfilling career. If you can think of anything we can do differently or something new you would like to know about then please email us your thoughts at contact@internshipHelp.co.uk.
